What is a vein clinic?

A vein clinic is a doctor’s office that is designed to treat vein-related problems with the utmost care and concern for venous disease. They are staffed by integrative physicians who understand that vein health is vital to a person’s whole body health and work to eradicate vein disease. Dr. D is a vein specialist who has created his vein clinic to help patients overcome venous disease in its many forms.

What is the difference between varicose veins and spider veins?

Varicose veins are medically serious veins that are large, swollen and diseased. They are a sign of chronic venous insufficiency and require immediate medical treatment. Spider veins , like their namesake, often appear as very thin, pinkish veins that look like a web or tree branch. While unsightly veins, in most cases, these spider veins are harmless and usually solely a cosmetic problem.

What are varicose veins?

Varicose veins are diseased veins that are often visible to the naked eye. They appear as tortuous, purple bluish veins that are bulging out of your legs, whether that be in the front or back. They look different on every patient, but often present as swollen, thick veins. They cause a multitude of issues to your health including most seriously blood clots, pain, cramping and leg ulcers.

What is the downtime for vein treatments?

That depends on which treatment you get, however there is actually limited downtime. Most patients can go back to their normal routine, with a few minor restrictions like no flying on airplanes for a couple of weeks. In addition, some treatments may require that you wear compression stockings for a couple weeks as well. Immediately after your treatments, walking is encouraged! Some cardio exercises may be restricted but ask Dr. D for any specific questions during your consultation.
