Is VenaSeal™ permanent?

Yes, the VenaSeal™ procedure is a permanent solution for the targeted veins. The diseased vein is sealed shut and gradually absorbed by the body and replaced by scar tissue. VenaSeal™ can provide long-lasting relief, but new varicose veins can potentially develop in other areas over time.

How is VenaSeal™ different from laser or radiofrequency ablation?

The key difference between VenaSeal™ and laser or radiofrequency ablation is that VenaSeal™ is thermal-free. Laser vein removal and Radiofrequency ablation uses heat to destroy and collapse the vein. VenaSeal™ uses a medical-grade adhesive to seal the vein shut.

How long is the recovery period after the VenaSeal™ procedure?

Following the VenaSeal™ procedure, patients can typically return to normal activities immediately. You can return to work in 1-2 days and complete closure of the treated vein will occur within 5-7 days.

How long does it take to see results?

How many treatments will I need?

The number of sclerotherapy treatments that you will require depends on how much solution your body absorbs and needs to remove all of the spider veins. This is up to your doctor's discretion. Most patients can expect between 3 and 6 total sessions of sclerotherapy vein treatments.

How long does sclerotherapy take?

Each sclerotherapy treatment session will take anywhere between 30 and 45 minutes. The treatment may be quicker if your veins soak up the solution very fast. Every patient and case will vary.

Does sclerotherapy hurt?

Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive treatment that requires no numbing or anesthesia. This means that sclerotherapy is not painful at all. Some patients may experience a very slight burning sensation or pinching, however this is very rare.

How does sclerotherapy work?

A foam chemical solution is injected directly into the diseased or affected blood vessels. This solution disrupts and irritates the vein wall which then causes it to scar, collapse and seal shut. The vein is visibly gone and your body naturally absorbs the closed tissue.
